ASHCOR Technologies Ltd., a company within the Energy Group, markets coal combustion  products from ATCO Power’s coal-fired generating stations in Alberta. The predominant product marketed by ASHCOR is called fly ash – the non-combustible residue remaining after coal is consumed in a power plant furnace. Designated as a supplementary cementing material, fly ash is primarily used as a partial replacement for Portland cement in concrete products and oil well cementing slurries.

• In 2008, ASHCOR celebrated its 10th anniversary.
• Over the past decade, ASHCOR has captured and
  re-used more than one million tonnes of waste
  by-product. In doing so, it has prevented more than one million tonnes of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere.
